Rory Mcilroy: The Premature Crowning

Once again the media is searching for that next great sports hero to latch on to. When one super star retires or leaves the game they also leave a void and a feeding frenzy to fill that void begins.Questions start to fly "who will be the NEXT"....Jordan,Tiger Woods or Iron man Brett Favre ? In the wake of this frenzy peoples lives and reputations can be destroyed. The pressure that is placed on their shoulders once they are crowned  the  next superstar can be devastating. Look what it did to Lebron at the age of 26 hes been labeled a "choker" and they even have said "He's not a clutch player".C'mon give him a break he's still younger than Jordan was before he won his first title and didn't you tag him the "King" right out of high school . Whats troubling is that statistically hes still one of the top 3 players in the league.

Now we come to the "NEXT" Tiger Woods, Rory Mcilroy he has been crowned after only one major championship victory,Tiger has 14 at least let Mcilroy get 4 under his belt before you crown him.If the failures start adding up before the wins do, the media will turn on him too. From his personal life to his character flaws they will assassinate him just to fill that void that was left when Tiger left. We as fans have a relentless need for information and we tend to crave whats hot good or bad and this is the driving force behind the media.More often than not we will pass premature judgement and end up crucifying someone for not living up to those expectations.Potential blinds us,it gives us a false sense of hope.We need to step back and let destiny run its course. This will give us a clear picture of how to judge them..
